Report Description

Document promotes seeking bed bug identification training through local Extension. Some of the advice given my not be achievable e.g., “Make sure that your uniform is as simple as possible. Avoid shirts with buttons and pockets.” Many community workers have uniforms they must wear, but it’s good advice for those who can choose. Similarly it is recognised that “Set your equipment down on the plastic bags. Always avoid placing canvas bags (see illustration) containing medical supplies or oxygen on upholstered furniture, bedding, or on carpeted floors.” may not always be possible.

Because radiology nurses see such a high number of patients every day, it is important to understand how to handle bedbug issues when they arise. Through education, nurses can make sure that bedbugs do not take over a health care facility and cause undue stress for patients or nurses.
